First of all this is my first post and Infiniti and love this site and forum. Well here is the story... Last week went out and bought a 03 Sedan from the dealership. When we went to test drive the car the battery was dead. The dealer jumped it off and my wife and I test drove it. Went the next day to pick up the car and they told us that the battery was dead again. They assured us that they installed a "new" battery in the car but it was still going dead. So when I asked what the problem was he said that they were going to change out the post and battery cables. After they did this the car was starting fine. We drove it home and it has been doing fine until we let it sit for two days now the battery is dead again. I dont think that it would be paracitic draw b/c it has been cranking every morning for my wife until she didnt drive it for two days. The previous owner had sirius radio installed so Im wondering if maybe I took it out that this would solve my problem? I also dont think that it is the Navi b/c the screen shuts off when you push it down so Im confused on what is wrong. What do you guys think the problem is? Thanks in advanced.

Welcome to NICO!!

The first thing you do is bring it back to where you bought it... THAT's a given.

If you are experiencing close to the same problems as the person in this thread

http://forums.g35club.org/zero...39208

You may want to educate yourself before you go in.

Hope that helps. Let us know how it goes!

What kind of audio system do you have?

The circuitboard on the stock stereo/HVAC controls have been known to go bad in the 2003/2004s. I have seen people with this causing a parasitic loss of battery charge so that it won't start. Its minimal enough to only make it have problems after a a few days.

If battery is good and alternator is also, you are having a current draw somewhere.

One way to figure if this was the cause is to pull the fuse and check across it with the car off.

On my other car it is mostly the security alarm (factory) but then that takes about a month before it will not start.

I mention the aftermarket audio system since I have seen this on many cars. Often times the system on signal goes to a simple relay that stays energized which leaves the amp on. Goes largely unnoticed if you use the car everyday in most cases but runs the battery down after a few days. Simple to fix with the addition of an external relay for just a few bucks.

The problem could also be a bootleg car. You should only buy an Infiniti. Never an Infinity. Well aside from that, my first guess was the Alternator should be faulty, since every battery died immediately. But you definitely need to go back to the dealer and have them fix the issue. They didn't do a proper check over. And never sign papers to take a car "AS-IS". You should always have some sort of parachute.

pfarmer - It has the factory bose stero system with the exception of the previous owner having the sirius radio docking station installed.

Tollboothwilley- I went and had the battery and alternator checked out today and the battery and charging system is working fine. Where is this circuitboard that you are talking about located and how would I know if it has gone bad?

Poyzinous- My apologies... my first Infiniti.

The Circuit Board is the part in red, located behind the trim that surrounds the audio buttons. It is a common item to fail in 03 G35s.

It is fairly expensive, but hopefully your dealer will cover it.I dont have the details, but there is a short on the circuit board that causes a parasitic draw when the car is off, killing the battery.

I tease everyone about the infinity spelling, so don't take it too seriously

Poyzinous -- Thanks for steering me in the right direction. After doing some research about this problem I find that several people have had the 03-04 G's going dead if not driven everyday. Ive been reading this post on a different website http://forums.automotive.com/7....html.

Ill probally just install an aftermarket head unit to get rid of this problem. Or at least I think it will get rid of the problem.

Infinitys have no power to run down, but do have unlimited possibilities.
