I have just purchased a 91 Q45, kind of by chance and have fallen in love with the car! It sat parked for over a year due to a bad rim,,, I found some aftermarkets and charged the battery and away I went! What a car! A few problems..The engine has developed quite a miss at idle and low rpm. It was just noticable when I first ran it, but has become progressivly worse over the last two weeks. Should I try to tune up myself (139,000 mi) or take to a nissan dealer?I cringe at what that might cost.....Need to work a bugged speaker out or the bose sound, find an antenna, repair a small area of rust on the rocker and I think jesu charge the a/s ( worked at 1st) and I'm set... Wow,,, what a ride!

Anyone have a source for a good repair manual?

Thanks in advance rayman

RAYMAN!

Welcome to our humble little club!

What color Q do you have... Sounds pretty nice.....

Before I continue... Are you aware of the TIMING GUIDES?? If not, please visit our articles section or goto http://www.q45.org (me/jesda's website) and read our articles there..... IF they are not address your engine will fail...... Not to scare you or anything

ANyway, what it sounds like to me is a bad injector(s)... Basically does it just shake?? I fits really bad there may be more than one going bad....

For your parts, talk to Joe at everythinginfiniti.. 18882165328, ask for Joe, tell him your a NICO member (and say you know Wes )

It depends what you mean by "tuneup"... We have plugs for sale on Q45.org, youll see it..

Email me and I will set you up with a repair manual.....

It is a sweet car ...

There is only one Service Manual, the factory FSM that came with the car. You can find them on ebay cheap, if you don't see one in a salvage yard. Save the money on anything else, worthless really.

This BB is a FSM actually ... it has saved me at least a grand ... and made my driving experience better as well.

This BB has a search function, use it to find threads from other posters with similar problems and it will probably be covered in depth. I would recommend doing the search for your idle problem ... I started to respond, but realized there were at least 20 threads out there already ....

enjoy the ride ...

Thanks for the tips on timing guides, etc. i have some research to do...The Q is black, was used in chicago most of it's life, thats why there's some rust! I will look into timing and injectors...How tough is it to change the plugs out? The local garage listed it as a 5 hour labor cost!

Sounds about right for book time. You'll probably take that long your first try. An experienced tech can probably do it in 2. You have to get under the black plastic covers on the valve covers, then remove all 8 coils (4 screws each).

First time took me about 6 hours but it was the first time I really ever did anything on ANY car (much less the Q)

When me and Jesda did the plugs on his Q, we did 2 plug jobs (took mine out, and put them in his) in 4 hours... IF we both worked at it we could have knocked it out real fast...
