While car shopping trying to get out from under my 08 TL-S which was recently hit by a drunk driver I stumbled upon this 04 G35 Coupe, I've always liked them but never really saw myself owning one so I didn't know much about them. Took it for a spin and loved it.

It lowered my car payment 200 dollars and my insurance 57 and it's even funner to drive!

Unfortunately there are a few things wrong with the car but nothing major its what I had to do to save myself lol. Rims are a little scratched up, a leather wrapped panel in the back is peeling off, a few other odds and ends.

Now heres a fear that I always had of buying a used car that was a abused or heavily modded. I'm up under the car just looking around and notice that the oil pan gasket has been replaced. I wonder why on a car with 50,000 miles. I think god I hope this car wasn't turboed. I keep looking around theres holes drilled in the aluminum bumper support behind the bumper cover, my guess...front mount. Keep looking, it appeared that the cats and exhaust had been recently removed or re-installed as a few of the bolts weren't very tight.

So as much as i'd like to ignore it I hope that if it was indeed turbo at one point in its life that it was taken care of at least lol.

But everything aside I'm glad to own it and am excited about learning more about them

Welcome to Nico.

Just please provide us your credit card number and which way you want to go with the mods on your car and we'll take care of the rest. ..

Oh yeah make sure you up the limit on the card by a few K's.

And in the mean time till we do the hard part for you(shoping) please don't forget to upload some pictures so we can .

But please be generous to us and warn us before you post pictures. Lately I am having some issues with my laptop. Some of the bottoms on the keyboard are sticky.

Welcome!!! now, don't get too worried, it's possible that there was some recent work done, do you have any records from the previous owner? Did you get a full report on your VIN?

Good luck, keep us posted... oh and by the way, I think anyone here with a turbo'd G, would be babying their car like you wouldn't believe... I think we all take good care of our cars.

Just keep an eye on your oil levels, you want to ensure that you're not losing/burning oil... Once you know how much you're burning, you can keep on top of it religiously... Some swear by Royal Purple, but I'm using Mobil1 5w30 with no problems...

Is your car a 6speed or 5 AT?

It's a 5AT unfortunately I didn't have a wide selection due to my current financial situation.

I plan on taking it back to the dealership to have some all of the things I've found wrong with it that are covered under warranty. But heres a quick breakdown.

The good. It only has 53,000 which for an 04 is pretty low, black leather, cross drilled & slotted rotors on all four corners ( is that stock? I hear of the 04's having brembo's, but it dosn't say brembo anywhere on the caliper so I'm not too sure) Has those EBC Green pads as well. Has newer generation G35 18's on it too.

The bad. Has a small oil leak near the number 6 cylinder which drips down onto the exhaust manifold heatshield causing it to smoke very slightly when it sits still when your moving you can't tell that will be the first addressed at the dealer. The audio cuts out on ALL left side speakers when going over bumps and such. The sunroof won't go all the way back at one time, I have to hit it, and either hold it, or let off, hit it let off hit it.

Apparently the 04's have an ugly interior ? I don't know the difference obviously, the only thing I hate about it is the volume and track change is on the passanger side!

But I'm not going to let any of that stuff discourage me, I'm a huge 1st gen mistu/dsm guy which in turn has made me a decent mechanic and I look forward to broadening my knowledge to include nissan.

Any common issues these cars run into that I should be aware of? I plan on doing a nice fluid change within the next few days. Already put 3 coats of Zaino on it and it looks gorgeous. Will try to have pics up soon!

I don't mean to rain on your party but I don't think the dealer is going to cover any of that under warranty

Welcome to the club.

Oil leak should be covered under warranty as long as the car wasn't abused by the previous owner.

This is the first oil leak I've heard from a G. I'm thinking boost may have work a gasket?

On the bright side, when your finances get better, you can boost your G and be happy!!! lol
