Bought '08 SpecV, rear ended on way home from dealership too.. Argh.

A great resource for Nissan Sentra, Infiniti G20, 200sx, Pulsar, NX1600, NX2000, Tsuru, Primera and Sunny owners.

Well as the title says, I did purchase a 2008 Nissan Sentra SE-R SpecV yesterday. Sapphire blue with only splash guards, floor mats, and all-season tires as options.

On the way home, I was rear ended slightly. I was sitting at a stop sign and thought about going, I took my foot off the brake and changed my mind, hit the brakes again though the car had never moved. The older lady behind me unfortunately thought that I was going and started looking for the next break in traffic and she moved closer to the stop sign. She did not notice that I did not go and drove straight into my rear bumper.

Fortunately, the damage is very minor just a few little wrinkles in the rear bumper. I think I am still rightfully bummed out about it though.

Updated pics:

finally:You can barely see the waves in the paint looking at the reflections in this final picture.

Thanks for looking everybody.

thank you all for the comments.

especially the compliments.

jbarbaresi: I have read many of your threads on another forum about my spec v... *cough* anywho I've seen your videos too. Nice to see someone takes proper documentation of modifications for good comparisons. And yes I've been a member here for a while, as you can see in the photos I have a 1990 240sx as well and have been a member here for a few years thanks to that vehicle. This community is fantastic and I wish it's other forums were more active such as it's Sentra forum. In fact, I wish they had more specific forums for Sentra's, hint hint.

I wonder if any of you know exactly how legal it is in the state of Pennsylvania to have an insurance company cut you a check for damages. I'm not sure how readily available rear bumpers are. In any case I am not as rich as owning a new car suggests, and quite frankly as a college student I can use the money at the moment more than I could use the repaired bumper. Not to say that I don't fully intend to fix the rear bumper with money that would be banked as a result of the check saving me money in the mean time. Does anybody know any "tricks" or rights in order to have an insurance cut me a check instead of paying strictly for repairs? I was obviously not at fault for the accident so it is not through my insurance but instead theirs.

Again thank you all for viewing my thread and any possible input.

the more i look at the new spec the more it grows on me, although i wont be buying one. my next car is going to be more upscale and i have difficulty placing faith in Nissan's 2.5 liter engines. Looks good though, that sucks about the bumper though.

no no, you have in no way upset me. I was just letting you know that I've read your threads, they are informative and I appreciate them. the other forum is about "my spec v" since we aren't supposed to speak of other sites I think that's a strong enough hint, thats why I put the cough in there. Sorry for the confusion, my name is Sicride there as well.

Yes their insurance is going to cover it, the estimate was just under $600.

You can speak of other sites in this kind of context. It's links and suggestions to "go to myspecv.com, [insert reason here]" and such that we edit. We want to encourage participation from everyone.
