What components have you all gone with for turboing the KA? I'm rebuilding mine from scratch and wondering what to use? Money is an issue somewhat, but I'm gonna get quality parts. Also, what compression ratio should I look for? It will probably be run NA for a little while before turboing, so I'm looking for a ratio that would work best for both.

AMS FTW!!!

haha..

I'm usuing AMS/Turbo 240 rods, Supertech 9:1 Pistons w/ fullseal rings, Clevite main/rod bearings, ARP rod bolts, and main studs. .. everything except the pistons I got from AMS.

I'm sure 9:1 will be fine for N/A withough losing too much power, that's what i'm doing for the break in.

My goal was gonna be modest, around 300hp. But I didn't have time to finish yanking out the KA in time for school cause I kept getting called into work, so I took my SR block in to start on. Unfortunately, they only let us work on one motor at a time. The KA will either have to go bye-bye or wait until the spring quarter.

Indeed. I've modeled my KA-T plans around your setup. Awesome work.

If 300 is all ur gonna go for- a stock rebuild should handle that fine. If you can- go just pistons- and a cometic headgasket- as added insurrance.

Nah.. Leave it alone for 300whp. No point in fixing something that isn't broken. More than likely, the cometic will give you more trouble than its worth.

ARP head studs with stock head gasket is the most simple yet effective setup... It has held 31psi on my setup for a full 4th gear pull..

I see- but I think he is already rebuilding the block. Which in most cases- why not go ahead and spend the extra if your plans might go there? And I think you have a freak engine. 31psi with just headstuds is ridiculous.

Because the Cometic is unnecessary for anything sub 550-600whp on an efficient setup..
