My 2006 infiniti is a piece of s***.

That being said, my mechanic just told me both airbags in the rear are popped. he said napa or whoever they use dont stock the parts. I'm a bit unsure what to buy online... can anyone give me a recommendation for parts?

couple other questions:

1. is it "hard" to replace them? I'm not the best with cars but am mechanically competent.

2. is it possible to ditch the airbags and just go with a normal shock/strut instead? would this be recommended?

1. get the service manual and look at the procedures to determine if you have the garage space and tools to complete the job.
2. yes many have done this. cant recommend it as its up to your individual taste and what you want to achieve. again many have done this for one reason or another.

Just did mine on my '06 QX56 and was way easier then expected. Remove tire, get the right size wrenches, disconnect air line (push in retaining ring, pull on air line), remove upper and lower bolt out it comes. Brand new OEM unit ebay is around $120 each. Check with your local Nissan/Infiniti dealer (same unit Armada/QX56) to compare price, I found ebay way cheaper.

just as an FYI for anyone thinking about replacing the rear Air Leveling Shocks. While the process is very simple in theory (two bolts per shock), the issue usually arises when you realize that the bolt is seized to the inner metal bushing of the shock. It is easy enough to unscrew the bolt, yet it will not come out as the metal sleeve from the shock turns with the bolt. This takes a lot of penetrating fluid, force, and impact to release. The entire job should only take 20 min or so per side, but with the issues you will most likely run into, it can easily take 90min per side
