I have searched the forum and can't find a problem exactly like I am experiencing.

Both door locks on my 1990 300zx 2+2 stopped unlocking or locking at the same time.

I tried to unlock the doors with my key fob (aftermarket alarm system). I see the locking lever on the inside door panels flip out, but the door does not unlock.

I can use the key to unlock the door, but when it's unlocked, I can't get it to lock. It's as if the actuators don't have enough ummph (is that a word?) to move the locking mechanism.

I googled the problem and found some general trouble shooting on Youtube that says the solenoid or actuator has failed if all locks failed simultaneously.

I've check fuses, they all look good. Does anyone know where the solenoid or whatever it is that sends power to the actuators is located?

thanks

OK, stumbled onto some more info and it looks like 1990s did not come with auto door locks. (probably obvious to many of you...but news to me). I guess that makes it a little more complicated since obviously the lock actuators were probably installed with the alarm system (Clifford Intelliguard 7000). If anyone has run into this issue with their aftermarket alarm system...I would be glad to hear how you fixed it.

The info you stumbled upon seems to be misleading, as my 1990 2+2 has power/automatic door locks. They are also tied into the timing circuit that controls the dome light. Does that still work, as in, turn off after a delay after the last door is closed ?
You can start here, Door Locks and Windows, in the service manual.
Good luck.
