Anyone know of any good shops that will do SR20DET swaps in the Boston area? Anyone with first hand experience with any speed shops in the Boston area?

check out primespeed in marblehead, ma. the owner's name is kevin primus and I've been working with him for years. he's not the speediest, but one of the best. he doesn't deal in 'fluff'. (lighting, shifter knobs, etc. you know--the bull****) only hardcore go-fast performance and tuning. check him out. if you go up there, tell him rich sent you-he'll know. the one with the 95 240. By the way- the ph# is 781-639-6061.

Oh, yea-I'm from Plymouth and I make the hour and 45min drive up there for everything. so does my brother with his heavily modded 95 eagle talon. good luck!!

Me, soon! I just moved back up to Boston for my last year at BU. I'm basically living on the corner of Mass Ave and Beacon - right near the bridge. Come visit!

Thanks raw, I'll give them a call. Do they import the engines themselves or just do installs?

what year is your car, tom? don't forget-if you want to convert to the 97-98 style lights from a 95-96, you need a new hood too.

I will be doing the swap and most of the body work and paint with a bud of mine.

It'll be a good learning experience. And yes Primespeed is a very good place to get work done. Kevin did a good job on my Z w/ new turbos/clutch/downpipes.

Hey, S3-which 'z' is yours? maybe you've seen a purple/maroon eagle talon with sparkles when you were there. That's my bro's car.

I know its kinda late but the best and most professional place you can go would be RPM MotorSports on Beacon St. That place is the most professional auto shop you'll come by in boston beside PF modified, but i dont know where they are exsactly. PF modified only uses the best parts and if you go to them for the JDM front they'll get you a completely new off the factory floor conversion and RPM would give you the choice of new or used parts. I think you should look into both of them. i know that either RPM or PF will get do the complete swap all parts and labor already included for about $3000. Motor,transmission,ECU...etc.

I wouldn't go to either for many reasons. Their prices are ridiculous, I sometimes know more than some of their mechanics and they only cater to those with money to throw around. RPM does a lot of the Patriots cars (Ty Law) as well as Antoine Walker's ride when he was with the Celtics.

$3000 for a complete swap is out of the question. The engine alone costs $2k to $2500, they won't do all that work for $500.

A lot of the asian community know those people too, they avoid them at all costs.

I visited RPM motorsports last year, they've since changed their name to 21 motorsports or something like that though. I remeber it was a bunch of bling bling wheels and a couple exhausts... really nothin special there. Donno about their work though, I asked them to source a SR for me and they never even called me back with a price.

PF modified I dont know where that is either, but I see cars around all the time with the sticker on their windows. Buncha bimmers and a few turboed eclipses. Whatever. Boston doesnt seem to me like a good place to get work done..
