Without getting rid of it, does anyone know how to fix the error that comes from trying to play a CD in the head unit? I'm one of the ones that likes to keep everything stock. And besides, Bose are one of the ones that have supreme sound quality. So I'd like to keep that. :)

Are you using brand new, store-bought CD?

You can try blowing compressed air into CD slot. If I had no money, I would take head unit out, disassemble, inspect and test. If I had $50, I would buy a stock head unit at junk yard and call it a day.

Yes. They're all brand new. And blowing compressed air sounds like a good idea. I'll try that. And it's funny, I did get it from the salvag yard...lol.

It isn't really a Bose head unit. It is a Clarion head unit. Aftermarket replacements can be had for cheap and produce better sound quality. Speakers are what Bose is known for. Not head units. I purchased a head unit that looks clean and would look stock if it didn't say Clarion on it and after messing with the EQ just a little bit, it produces better sound than the stock unit ever did. I am not one who likes to blast my music at max volume either. The sound quality is greatly improved over stock.

I am not trying to say either one is better because they each have their trade-offs. I was resistant to get an aftermarket unit for the same reason as you, but now I am so happy that I did, and I will never go back.

Maybe 30 years ago, but not today. Their selling technique employs a gimmicky WOW factor to hype their overpriced stuff.

BOSE stands for "Buy Other Sound Equipment" or "Bring Other Sound Equipment". Essentially, it's the Monster Cable of audio systems.

The only Bose equipment I own is what is in my pathfinder and I didn't have much choice in that.

I do not mind the system in these cars though. It does what I need it to do at mid range volume.

As for your unit, Mario, what error does it say you have? I had error 4 I think and it couldn't play cds. Then the cassette play quit and the radio always sucked so I bought a new Clarion unit from a local audio shop which was what they recommended with the stock speakers. Depending what error you have, just Google that error along with pathfinder stereo and you should find what you're dealing with.

I'm happy to try to assist you in fixing it, but if I were in your shoes (and I was recently) then I would really consider an aftermarket unit. They truly sound better and you can get them looking stock-ish. I installed mine myself but it's not much to have it done professionally.

I think total including all the hardware, it only cost me around $150 which is less than what you'd pay for a dealer repair anyway.

I see. I am not sure. Usually it says some sort of code. Here is a link to Crutchfield's page:

You will also need a wiring harness to make it play nice with the Bose speakers. That's usually around $25 more. If you want to keep using your steering wheel controls, then you will need yet another adapter. I elected not to keep mine because I did not use them anyway.
