well this is my first post here on the maxima side of nico lol. but i have a 97 maxima gle and am happy with the bose system at least with the speakers..... now my stock head unit is missing pretty much all of the buttons so i cant skip tracks on my cd player. what i want to know is will the speakers not perform as well with an after market deck or will it sound the same or better? also when i put an aftermarket deck in my 300zx i had to re-rout all the pre amps for the bose speakers so they would play. will that be the same case for the maxima speakers or are there no pre amps? wll thanks guys!

CMEASLEY,

You will run in to the same issue as you did with your 300ZX.

No you do not. Crutchfield.com has a wire harness that will plug into your Maxima wiring harness and into you aftermarket radio. You do not have to run separate. This link to helphttp://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=157920

that harness will allow you to use your factory amp. the level adjusters are for fine tuning the sound once its hooked up. so what that means is if its to low you turn it up by adjusting the knob and vice versa if its to loud.

Just so you know a little more about what you are dealing with:If the power (12V+) and ground wires are required at each speaker then there is an amp there. You will notice from the diagram that the tweeters only have +/- speaker wires. They are powered by the amps located at the front door speakers. The front door speakers show +/- outputs to the tweeters. For whatever reason the RH rear speaker is not shown in the diagram.

I don't have any experience with this vintage maxima stereo, so I can't tell you if you can expect dramatically better sound. My Bose system did sound better when I put my new Pioneer hu in, but it still wasn't up to par for me. Your system is missing a sub so it will be pretty limited in sound quality. I don't know how capable your front components are, but I would guess they are something less than what was originally in my car. If you want to get some good quality sound then you will have to make a bigger investment.

okay so you mean the wiring harness will allow me to just plug it in and its all good!? and then i just need to fine tone it for the new deck?

no im not going to invest anything in this car.... thats what my TT Z will be for lol. i just have a few decks laying around that i can put in so why not? my main concern is having to re rout all the amps like what i had to do in my previous Z.

yes hook everything up and then turn on your deck i would turn the volume to about 3/4 of max volume and then tune the adapter to the sound level you want for each channel.

your link doesnt take me to the wiring harness it just takes me to the website. i looked around on the site, and i think your talking about the 40 dollar one with the little box to adjust correct? if so does it come with the adapter to connect it to the deck like it shows in the picture? or do i have to buy that seperately?

that should be all you need you hook up the connectors the the stock harness and then use butt connectors to match up the ends from the harness with the wires from your aftermarket hu.
