The two "subs" in the coupe are the 6x9s in the rear deck. There are also a pair of "tweeters" in the rear deck that match the three that are across the dash.

The amp for the coupe is in the trunk on the very bottom right. Once you get to gutting your car for your install you'll find it. You need to take out the carpet in the trunk and then remove the styrofoam surrounding the spare. Under the styrofoam you'll find three things. On the left, there are two boxes mounted on top of each other (one is the bluetooth module and one is the XM module). On the right is the amp.

I realized I have a pic. On the right is the amp:

You should be fine with that. There are a number of people on here running the stock Bose system with an aftermarket substage setup. It'll definitely add a bit more low end to your stereo.

Hello.. I have a totally noob question.

Is there a power cable from the battery running to that stock amp?

Next year after winter I am picking up a 2009 Sedan with the bose 9 speaker system (not nav).

Is it possible to disconnect the stock woofers and connect a bass box to the stock amp? Just the thought of adding my own amp, running cables makes my legs quiver.. =)

Thanks.

no. the factory wiring is cheap 22 gauge wires going from the deck to the amp, and from the amp to the speakers. I believe the power and ground wires were a little thibker, but not thick enough to power a real amplifier!

Wait, are you saying the Bose amp isn't a real amplifier?

Just kidding. Doc is right on with this one. If you were to try to push any normal amount of power (required for an aftermarket amp) through the factory power/ground, you'd melt the crap out of those wires nearly instantly. That would result in a short somewhere and could potentially cause a fire. Also, before the wire completely melted, the amp would be starved for power and would make the subs sound like crap. If you wanted to try to use the Bose amp to power an actual subwoofer, that wouldn't work either. The Bose amp will not push anywhere near close to enough power for a real subwoofer.

I know the idea of running power/ground through your car may seem like a daunting task, but with the help of everyone on these forums I have complete confidence that you can do it (and do it well). It may be time consuming, but I certainly wouldn't call it difficult. You just have to like tinkering a bit!

Does the BOSE non-nav system allow you to make setting adjustments to bass, treble, balance and so forth?

Even the non-Bose system allow you to adjust the Bass, Treble, Fader, and Balance. So yes, I would imagine that the Bose would have those options.
