Hello.

I just purchased a New G35 Sedan w/ Bose system. I want to add a sub to it but I was told by someone at Circuit city that some of the Bose systems cut the bass as the volumn goes up to protect the speakers.......and therefore I would lose the bass sent to the sub as well therefore negating the benefit of adding a sub. What is your guys experience.

ThanksDennis

First and foremost, the people that you actually get to talk to at Circus City and Worst Buy are not the installers, they are usually biased toward their equipment, and 99% of the time do not have a serious understanding of the huge world of mobile electronics. That being said, I have added subs to many Bose systems and if the install is done correctly, you will get your low bass that you desire. The way to do it is with one of many converters available for the Bose system.Peripheral Electronics have a product called the VEN 4 that will work for the line out conversion of your factory Bose head unit. It retails for $50 and you can usually find this product at a reputable car audio shop. Use that off of your head unit and it will give you RCA outputs to connect your new amplifier to your new sub. I have not used this converter for a G35, but I have used it on an FX45 and it works great.

The price you pay for the install at a good shop is worth having it done right by the people that live for car audio and not by the people working at Circus City because some hot girl works at the register and to get good deals on neon kits for their Kia Rio.

You bought a beautiful car, dont let a hack punk screw it up.
