Ok, so here’s the deal. I wanted to see if I can put a Bose subwoofer from a newer pathfinder or any newer Nissan/Infiniti into my 2003 pathfinder? I hate aftermarket booming sound systems. Iv had other Nissans/Infiniti vehicles before and LOVE the Bose sound, but in the 03 pathfinder it’s missing the Bose subwoofer that would actually make the sound perfect.
Has anyone done this?
If so, how?
What year car subwoofer did you use?
Where did you mount the sub?
How did you connect it?
Any information would be much appreciated.

Hello. I don't know anyone who has done it, and I don't know if the R50 actually has a slot to drop a subwoofer in it.

I, like you, am one of the few people who actually appreciate the factory BOSE system - or I just don't have the ear for good sound. However, what I can say is that I thought the plain BOSE rear speakers in my 2002 Qx4s sounded very good. Have you considered switching the factory speakers for some aftermarket ones like Infinity branded.

In the FSM, the audio is discussed in the EL section. Take a look and familiarize yourself with the wiring.

I also don't think the R50 has a spot for a factory-style sub to fit into. The only thing I can think of is taking the cover off the rear storage area on the passenger side and custom building a box for an 8inch sub or even smaller and that definitely will not give you an overwhelming sound. Like you, I also like the sound of the bose speakers which is why I bought the pac audio adapter for the aftermarket headunit. If you keep the factory radio I believe pac audio makes an adapter to add an amp to power a sub. Perhaps the amp in the floor storage and sub on side cubby?

I was actually thinking of buying the spare tire Bose sub woofer box like from a murano or small Bose sub from like a g35 or a newer pathfinder and, like you said, sticking into the cubby in the back. I would basically just tap into the door speaker wiring to make the sub work.
I really can’t beleive NO ONE has done anything like this after all these years lol

It's probably because most don't see the BOSE as a significant upgrade. I expect aftermarket subs in free standing boxes paired with aftermarket headunits to be more common.

That seems like a lot of wasted time and money imo. If you are going to go through the trouble to being this specific as to the type/brand of sub, I recommend you do some more homework as to how to wire it properly.

I have the full bose system in my car and it sounds almost perfect, it’s just missing the stock Bose sub. That’s why I ask. I’m sure with the thousands of pathfinders sold with the Bose systems, I can’t be the only one that has thought of doing this.

Well I have a bose system in it already, would just getting a bose sub with its own amp, splicing into the power and signal be enough? It would be running off the correct impedance. Or am I missing something?
That’s why I made this thread, to see if anyone has done it and if so how....

You may be able to do it if you can figure out which wire goes to rear amp for power. I quickly glanced at fsm but I am not sure if the factory HU puts out enough current to power a separate amp (bose sub). Another thing would be getting the low sound from the HU. You would have to tap into wiring somehow for just the lows. The adapter i used for my aftermarket HU has "extra" wires for lows for every speaker. Perhaps an adapter like this may help you. https://pac-audio.com/catalog/audio-int ... /aoem-nis2
You may still need to run the wiring to power the sub which may require some sort of resistor(s) if power is too great for sub. I am by far no electrical engineer but thats what I seems logical to me. Correct me if i'm wrong.

I was kinda thinking the same thing, but was hoping not to have to do the whole amp wiring set-up, but I think you might be right about the adaptor, if it doesn’t put out enough power to the sub. Man, now I feel like I have to do this experiment if no one has done it lol
Gonna start looking for a bose sub....

something might want to consider is a powered sub like a kenwood ksc-sw11 or similar. they are very discreet and all you would need is the adapter with a single wire to the battery. it beats the experimenting with the wiring for bose sub. they sound great and are definitely not overwhelming.

i might have to research that one because I had an infinity bass link back in the day in my 98 maxima and it was ok at best, never really got that nice sounding perfect deep bass like I did with the Bose subs I had in my g35 and murano. If the Kenwood can reproduce that, then it could definitely be a possibility.

I had a quick question, does anyone know the color wire to the low level? If there is one?
I’m guessing there might not be one since there is no specific subwoofer Input/plug on the the Bose amp.

There is no factory wiring for the lows. You will probably need a line output converter-->Male to Male rca cable--> speaker wire to female rca.

buuuut I don't know how your bose sub amp is wired...
