Hello everyone. My name is Zach, and I just stumbled upon the Nicoclub forums. I'm so glad I did. Just to let everyone know...I am new to these forums but I'm not new to car forums in general. I did a search for my topic and read about 10 or so topics and could not find an answer for my questions...that being said..here goes......

I have a 2000 Infinity I30. The sound system sounds great, but I recently noticed that the bass is no longer as present as it once was...so I put on a heavy bass laced track, and went to the truck, only to find out the bose sub was completely inactive. There is a transistor looking set of wires that I hit with my hand, and the sub came back on, it was on for a few minutes, then gone again..This worked about 5 or so times and now its just completely out. I would like to be able to fix this issue, and i'm pretty sure its not the sub...Only prob. is, I dont know where to find replacement parts, and I want to make sure this is not a common issues with an easy fix before I dump money into it.

If anyone can provide some useful advice, I would be very grateful

Thank you,

Zach

Thank you! I really want to have some bass in the car again...I'm not a fan of aftermarket bass so much...Plus I have 2 kids, so its just not something that I can do...factory sound like the bose in these cars is what I want...and the sub being gone takes away from it. :-(

Thanks for any help you can provide..

Zach

The 2000+ plus i30 subs are notorious for going out. It might actually be cheaper and more reliable to buy a box and amp off crutchfield. it's really easy to tap into the stock wires coming out of the bose amp.

EDIT: nevermind just read your second post. I think if you get a good powered sub you will be suprised how much cleaner the bass is than the bose system.

3 options:buy a used one(unreliable)

buy a new one

buy a sub amp combo(which is what i would do) that sub really doesn't put out much. i'd do 2 10s or 8s IB in your rear deck and mount the amp to the back of the seat and you have all your trunk space and alot better bass. you could do this for around 200-300 bucks for instance, and it will be a hell of alot better.
