this is my first post, so thanks for looking.i just bought a 98 infiniti i30, that has the factory bose stereo. that has 1 amp per speaker.but the fader isnt working, and it's all front speakers, so im going to install my alpine cd/mp3 player. which has 3 pre outs, so i can just use those instead of buying a hi to low level input, and hiding it somewhere.

ive search this website and others for a wiring diagram, and i can only find what the 2 main plug wires are. and what wire is what on the speaker connector.

my question is...what are the other two connectors for? one is a 2 prong plug, and when i unplug it all four speakers just make a popping noise, no music.and the other looks like a connector to a cd changer or something. i fugured the one is for the amp. and the other is antenna. but i can unplug both and the radio still comes in fine.

i went out and bought an adapter from bestbuy but it has nothing for the other two plugs. just your regular +,-,acc,speakers+-,ill,pwr ant, remote.

any input would help. thank you

by the way, i couldnt use the forums search more than once. it kept sending me to the first search results every time i clicked on search. i had to use the google search, which cant do specific sections. that might be why i wasn't able to find the answer to my question.

so i take it nobody here here knows.

i searched yahoo and other forums and everybody read one article that says you cant install a regular deck to a bose system. so thats what they keep repeating. i ended up installing it anyways and is sounds great. alot better than my other car, which has all kenwood speakers 61/2 fronts 6x9 rear. no componets but at least 200 to 250 $ worth of speaker.

all you have to do is hook the pre amp outs on the back of your deck to the actual speaker inputs on your stock harness. or buy a hi to low level adapter. and hook your remote amp wire to wich ever wire is the amp power for your bose speakers.

still dont know what the antanna wire is.

thank you very much. this will be very useful now and in the future. i didnt really think nobody knew, i just thought that would get some attention.this will help me figure out how to stop my airbag light from blinking. pretty sure its a loose connection.

ive heard good things about this forum. i just have a hard time searching, logging on and posting. Ive never had a problem with other forums. i dont know if you guys get alot of complaint about that.

I wonder if it's an issue with your browser settings. I tried searching to see if I could replicate your problem and it works fine for me. I was actually going to post this up last night but things got crazy (I post from the office at night) so sorry about that.

Perhaps this link to a wiring diagram will help; it illustrates the wiring connections that plug into the Bose units for the 1995 and newer Nissan and presumably Infiniti cars; it also shows those from the earlier years. I am considering replacing my older Bose unit (1993 Infiniti J30) with the more readily available newer ones. I seems to me all I will have to do is match and splice the correct wires and use individual bullet-style connectors.
