I'd say confirmed amplifier problem. I have used the carstereohelp people and they are good if not cheap. Hell, man. One of those Lasonic boom boxes? If I ever see one of those in a pawn shop or yard sale that looks like it still works, I'd consider it. Just such an awesome spectacle of 1980's/90's over indulgence.
