Maybe this question has been asked before. I am trying to replace the factory head unit, and put some headrest screens. I need to know how many amps the speakers are. if it is 4 it will work, if it is 2 then i guess i'm gonna have to replace the speakers. so if anyone knows, how many amps are the speakers? thanks.

Well, they're rated for 2 ohms ...

But the main thing is that they're powered by their own amps, individually. It shouldn't make much difference if you're just talking a new head unit without amps.

Are you sure it matters?

yea because the almost all the factory units have amplifier in them, so they give out 4 ohms. One shop says the stock speakers will work if we bypass the factory amplifier, the other says it wont work because it has the individual amps. so the problem is that the unit gives out 4 ohms, so i probably need a converter or something. Damn man, why everything has to be so complicated on this car man.....

You'll only be able to use the pre-outs from any head unit - no amp. If you do that, you just need to get the right harness adapter, if necessary. The sound and power won't change much at all. In that case, the ohms don't matter much.

But if you're looking to boost the amps, you have to replace the speakers, too.

The speakers have their own individual amps. The head unit is pre-out. No such thing as a "factory amp" on this one.

I was looking at a Nav system that obviously replaced the audio. The guy, i 94' owner and NICO frequenter said that it woudl work "no problem" so I think you can do it, but i don't think it would sound any better.
