bose speaker question

i got a friend that jsut put a alpine deck in his g20/premira and he still using the factory bose speakers and they get loud with no distortions but its like there lacking highs and a little bit of the lows.its just like all mids...is this common with the bose speakers

Unless he used a special harness/adapter, he's "over feeding" the speakers. The Bose speakers are amp'ed and aren't expecting a speaker level input, they're expecting an RCA level input.

Can you re-cap the entire set-up?

Older Bose car stereos only used one driver for the entire frequency range. This is acceptable at lower listening volumes, but when you turn it up, you lose a lot of the highs and lows. It is nearly impossible for a single driver to produce a 20HZ and a 20000HZ frequency at the same time.

To fix this problem, I would suggest installing a seperate tweeter with the frequencies from ~5000HZ and above crossed over to the tweeters. Send frequencies 5000HZ and below to the main drivers. This should drastically expand your frequency range at high volumes.
