Alright I hate to just come here and ask for some help, but I just realized my Bose Sub in the back has decided to not work anymore. I am not sure when this might have happened, but I was wondering if anyone would have any ideas on how to remedy this. I have installed a Ipod dock that plugs directly into the cd changer plug. Could this have caused my problem?

My first guess is that the amp for the sub has died. The bose systems have individual amps for each speaker.

How do I trace the problem then?

Are you sure that the 2000 I30 had individual amps for each speaker. My 2k maxima didnt. It had a 200 watt bose under the read deck in the trunk and a seperate amp for the sub in the rear deck.

I would say it would be the amp on the sub. Try taking the ipod stuff off and seing if that works and if it doesnt i would say it either the sub amp or the lead into the sub. Voltmeter will figure that part out.

I've had a problem in both my old 01 i30 and my 03 i35. It's somehow a problem with the sub itself. I finally gave up and installed an aftermarket sub system.

Ah, I could be wrong, then. I assumed the newer Bose systems are like the earlier ones.

I did to but i would still like to get that damn thing to work. I think it will make it sound better.

Alright, I took the head unit out to check all the connections back there with my ipod hookup and it appears to not be causing the problem which I didn't think it was. Also I only see an amp under the rear deck next to the sub. My next step is to check to see if the sub is getting power.

try unplugging the sub wire harness and then plug it back in, you may need to just reset the amp ya know.

Are you saying you want to use the factory sub in conjunction with the aftermarket subs?

I heard of someone running their Bose Sub as a center speaker for movies, while having a real subwoofer for the bass. I have no idea how they hooked that up tho. And my bose just died, i thought my rear deck was rattling terribly, but the woofer was just dead lol. So i took it out and dynamatted it all down. 12W6 here i come!

For the amps. From what i've heard they do all have individual amps. I took out my HU and there was no amp under it...

It is not in back of your HU. It is under/beside your bose sub in the trunk.

Correct.I am currently using the Bose amp to power the rear speakers in the doors already. I just need to power the sub in the rear deck. I am currently using a Bose amp out of I think a frontier but I don’t think it has the leads out to the sub. I have another Bose amp that I will try and I hope it will work. If not i will have to do some searching on the ORG to find another.

Alright, I have done some digging around with the sub and amp. I looked for any sign of a signal making it to the sub. I'm still not sure where the issue is. I think it may either be in the amp itself for just the sub or if it is in the circuit card that is in between the amp and the sub. Any thoughts on this?
