My wife and I purchased a 2003 Inifniti i35 with fully loaded sports package about three months ago. The car has about 111,000 miles and in great condition. At first, no problems. Then seemingly with cooler weather, I would go out to the garage at night to find the Bose Radio ON, although the car was turned off and key removed, door closed, many hours before. There have been no modifications to the the stock Bose Premium sound system, and there is no remote starter installed. After this occurred for a couple weeks, one morning the battery was dead - the 7 year old original Inifniti battery had failed. I replaced the battery thinking I had cured the Radio problem too, but after a week, the Radio problem came back. The new battery was found dead at the end of the day. I removed the neg battery terminal and measured the residual DC current being used by the car when off, doors closed (secruity circuit, clock, remote keyless entry system...). The current was 2.0 amps! After removing most of the relays and fuses, I put two and two together - and removed the Audio fuse. Immediately the current dropped to .08 amps, and later to .045 amps, which would be expected. Apparently the radio is drawing this current - maybe just at colder temps (below 40 deg F), but when it is, the radio can be turned on and off without the key - and if the radio was left in the ON state when the key was turned off, the radio will come ON when this high current condition occurs, raising the current another 1/2 amp. Either way, when the car is left and it drops below this temp, the battery will eventually drain and die. I have left the Audio fuse out, and now, with no radio, the battery remains charged no problems...
Has anyone else had this type of problem with the 2003 i35 Bose system? If so, what was the fix? Thanks !!!
