So i notice that switching from CD to FM/AM to power off the 1-6 numbers and seek up and seek down arrows go away and come on and i was wondering is it supposed to do that or is there something wrong with the wiring. Heres some pictures to show what im talking about X]

Radio Off, all lights on

FM/AM, all lights on

CD, 1-6 lights off and seek up and down lights off

From what i can remember i think they used to flicker o.o but i'm not sure... and some clicking type sound coming from the hood whenever i switch to CD and FM/AM. any ideas?

or

is it supposed to do that o.o its been a long time since my mom and dad had their J30, i can't remember lol

You have some burnt out bulbs.

Take the unit out. The bulbs are essentially little screws that come out with a small screwdriver. They can be accessed by unhooking the stereo from the power harness and turning it around.

The bulbs are relatively cheap. Any local Nissan/Infiniti dealers should carry them.

It is normal for some of the buttons to go dark when you change inputs. When you switch to CD it blacks out the buttons that are not used with the CD function. My J does the same thing, as did my 96 Maxima with the same deck.
