Hello,

I currently have a factory Non-Bose Single Cd player(CN180) in my Maxima now(with SAT). Im being told by someone on Ebay that I cant just get a Bose unit without getting the 6 disc changer & if I do that I will need another AMP, replace the radio screen, buttons & speakers

Does anyone know if this is True ?

I dont really care about the 6 disc changer, but want a Bose unit that has SAT

The Bose system has more speakers, different speakers, and is Bose which means it has some oddball electronics that generally aren't friendly with non-Bose stuff (the amp you mentioned, for instance). You'd need to change out the whole shebang. I imagine the dash for a non-bose car doesn't come pre-wired for BOSE, either (which means you'd need to do some nasty harness replacement inside the dash).

I'm not sure what the differences are between Bose/non-bose displays (if any).

The CD changer is integrated into the BOSE dash unit. It uses the same feed slot as the standard CD player and not a trunk mounted remote magazine like older/aftermarket changers.

I guess I was kinda skeptical that Nissan would go through so much trouble of having different wiring from one radio to another.

Seems like Ford has the right idea of using the same wiring for all their radios & just replacing the head unit or tuner

Thanks for your help

How much are they charging you for the stock HU? I'd go aftermarket for sure. I installed the AVIC D3 and it's awesome for $999
