The right rear (passanger) side speaker in my Q45 is blown, and I need a replacement. Anyone have one for sale, or know a source for one, (cheap, that is).

My rebuilds from Bose were the same speaker boxes, but the cones were new - don't know about the amps, but they sound great. The Bose repair deal seems like the best deal out there...

Thanks everyone for the tip about Bose. Called them this morning and set up with them for return - $75 for the speaker (= $80 with shipping). Pulled out the non-working speakre from the back deck, and found it was completely dried out. So pulled out the other one, which is also dried out, and will send back both. Will take a few weeks - a couple of weeks just in shipping back in forth from SoCal to Mass, but soon I'll be back in tunes.

Thanks for the heads up on that site. Still seems like sending the units back to Bose is the best deal going.

Let us know how it goes if you use these guys. Many of us will have to at some time replace or repair our aging Bose units.

Anyone know if one of these (see pic) would work in a 92 Q? I'd love to have an in dash CD player that looks "stock". I really can't stand the spastic looking head units that are being made today. Do manufacuters think that all purchasers of 3rd party car stereo equipment are "kids"?

I believe it's been done before... I'm not sure if the line level matching would work, but Tom Novak (who used to be the parts manager at Infinti of Lisle) did this I think...

Thanks for the info.

Sorry to be so ignorant, but what do you mean by "line level matching?"

Well, the line level is the output from the radio, and it's matched with the input to each speaker with it's separate amplifier. Just to make it simple say the volume output (line level output) is measured between 1-10 and the radio and speaker amps are both designed to work with a line level of 4. If you put a different radio with a line level output of 7, you'll overdrive the amplifiers and get distortion and clipping when you turn the radio up. If you put in a radio with a line out of 2 then you have to turn the radio up a lot just to hear the music, and you amplify a lot of noise, so you're more likely to hear a hissing noise, etc.

Bose changed the line level output and input on the radios between the 90 an 91 Q - I discovered this when I bought a used set of 91 amps and hooked them up to the 90 radio. Drove me crazy so I ended up buying the 91 radio a few months later. I'm not sure if the radio in the pic. (looks like a J30 or I30/Maximna unit from the Mid 90s?) would be the same line level or not... If you can get the radio cheap, it's worth a try!

The front left speaker on my 91Q still works, but at a greatly reduced volume. I suspect the amplifier. Do you know if the Bose replacement will help? Should I get an amp, or how would you fix this problem?

By the way a few years back Infiniti replaced both rear speakers as part of a recall. If you have an early Q with rear speaker problems check the recall lists first.

Sounds like an amp problem. I'd call Bose and have both fronts rebuilt at the same time.
