I have an INFINITY 2003 sedan. After two days parked, the new battery goes flat. Dealer said it is the BOSE what may cause the problem as everything else seems OK.

Any one has the same problem solved? Thanks.Jorgito

could definitely be the stereo if it isn't stock....but if it's stock and hasn't been tampered with you should be fine.

the majority of the time....if the stereo system is involved with the battery being drained it's usually an amp that's hooked up wrong and is drawing power all the time instead of just when the car is on. It's a simple wiring issue.

How old is the battery? If it is the original battery I'd replace it. If the battery has vent caps you could check the specific gravity of each cell with a battery hydrometer. How is the alternator? With a digital voltmeter you should read about 14v across the battery terminals with the engine running. If you connect the digital multimeter in series from the positive battery terminal you can measure any draw from the battery with everything turned off. You can pull the fuze from the Bose if that is suspect?

Good Luck

Usually when power is being drawn while the car is off, there is a short somewhere. So until you can locate which system is causing the short, you can figure out which fuse and pull it when you shut the car off. To figure that out on your own, you'll need the equipment telcoman mentioned.

Perhaps the problem is in your Infinity speakers and not your Infiniti automobile?

There might be a short in the radio. If there is a short it will draw milliamps and kill your battery. We can repair that for $225.

I have a 2003 sedan too and am having a problem with my new battery running out as well. I haven't figured out the problem yet but will do so this weekend. Come to think about it, it might be the radio draining the battery, but I am not sure of the connection just yet. My factory CD player is jammed and it seems like it is constantly trying to eject the cd when it's on "Disc". I wonder if it is trying to do this even when the engine is turned off. If you figure out what your problem is, please let me know and I will do the same.

Well let’s try to narrow down the list. If you think it’s the radio, disconnect the radio. If you car doesn’t die we have found the culprit. If you want to know more information about what we do please give me a call at 408-209-9113

I glad it worked. If you don't have a use for that broken radio, contact me. I could use it.

Have a good one

Did you just replace the stereo or the speakers and the amp? I have the same problem and I have a spare pioneer KDHDR and would want to replace the stock with this one if it solves the battery drain problem.

ThanksSamir

Samir,I think that what replaced was the stereo, they did not touch the speakers. And for the amp I think they replaced also. The dealer said they have an exchange deal with BOSS and they charged me $299 for the radio, plus labour and taxes. Total was $450. (Canadian, though now is the same as US dollar). So far, so good....But still I think INFINITI should do something, they did not do anything for me as it was over the three year guaranty...Good luck.
