i'm still trying to upgrade the standard bose radio. i have read almost everything on this forum about changing out the radio. i just spoke to 2 different radio installers and got 2 different answers...
installer#1: if i install a new head unit w/ correct harness adapter i could use the existing wiring harness to the amp and speakers. since the new head unit is 70watts/channel, the additional wattage will kick up the output wattage from the existing bose amp. he went on to say that i could then change out the 1 ohm speakers for high-end 4 ohm speakers and there would be enough power to drive them...
installer#2: if i install a new head unit w/ correct harness adapter i could use the existing wiring harness but i had to bypass the bose amp. since the new head unit is 70watts/ 4 channels, the additional wattage will drive 4 ohm speakers( replacements) just fine, but he wasn't sure how to handle the existing sub...
