I have a 96 Q with the Bose stereo. I am interested in getting lcd screens/dvd player and or a 12'' sub for more bass. my question is, can these things be added to the system, or is it more difficult than most systems? Is there any AUX input? What about the companies that make aftermarket AUX input for stock stereos (the one i found http://www.rcainput.com doesnt offer support for infinti)? What I have had people say its as easy as just tying them in with the back speakers like any other car, but i have heard some horror stories from a friend with a bose system, but it was in a RX7. If it is more difficult than a normal stereo, would anyone care to explain how they did it? I want to do this. also if anyone would show pics of their system and screens that would be awesome. thanks in advance. -marty

The Bose Sound system is kind of hard to do. Most installers are scared of them and will tell people just to get rid of it. However, there are ways to intigrate stuff in the Bose system. There are many auxillary adapters and if you know how to intigrate factory amps (not hard) it can be done. But most installers get rid of the system.

I would replace the headunit with a dvd/screen/reciever combo. You could hook this up and use the factory speakers with the adapter from Peripheral NISAH4N just as long as the dvd/screen/reciever combo has speaker outputs. The new dvd/screen/reciever combo would also have pre-outs for subs. If you wanted to, you could easily add an amp for the subs, but not for the speakers. You would have to get new speakers if you were to add an amp for the highs/mids. SO... it can be done if you find a good shop, and as scruff said... most installers wont touch em. Just look around for one that will do it and you will be set.FYI... the adaptor is like 50 buks.

one more thing. i havent had the stock 10 cd changer for a long time because it broke, and the dealer couldnt replace the same model for whatever reason, so they took it to a audio place and added a sony 10 disc changer in there, and get it through the speakers using a fm modulator, that turns on when you power up the little headunit. (much like the new XM headunits) so anyways, my question would be, is it likely/possible that the fm modulator has room for more than one input channel? if so i was thinking i could simply add the dvd sound into there? maybe i am thinking crazy. any thoughts would be greatly apreciated. -marty

Hmm not sure about the fm modulator. I think it depends on the kind that you have. Simm you might wanna take that one. How far is Plano from Houston. Because at my shop James (an installer) loves dealing with bose amps and stuff like that. In fact he prides himself on it.
