hello i own a 91 maxima se and i have a weird stereo problems. The unit is stock and all. here it goes.... the cd wont insert but it will eject CDs. So basically the CD doesnt work. And it The AM/FM will turn on when i start the car but it will turn off by itself in about 15 sec. And it will switch off and on all day until I turn the power to the unit off. It does it all by itself. The tape player, i dont know because i never tried it. And all of these problems never happen before, everything was fine until a guy fixed my alarm system. The alarm was draining all my battery so i had to fix it and after that, these problems appeared.

Was do you guys think I should do? The guy say take it to a shop and have them reset my computer. You guys think thats a good solution? Any help is great. Thanks for the help in advance.

Resetting the ECM won't help the stereo. I'd take it to the guy who did the alarm and have him fix what he F'd up.

I agree.. it sounds liekyou have a loose connection somewhere. You could always just pull the HU out and make sure maybe the connection isnt bad, maybe your guy forgot to plug something back in or something.

Well if he didnt plug something back then that wouldnt cause the radio to turn on and off by itself. He told me he dont know what is going on and I definitely dont know whats going on too. Well right after I got the car back after he fixes it, I tried to turn on some music, I can hear sounds like a switch was goin on and off by itself right under the steering wheel. At the same time the FM/AM radio would turn on and off.... Maybe it is some wiring fault or what not. Any ideas bout that is appreciated.

I had the same problems with my Bose head unit as well...It would come on when you started the car then a minute or so later it would turn off. It finally did this for a month or two and now it will not work at all. I haven't done anything to my alarm system so I have no idea why it happened.

It seems there are lots of problems with those headunits. I have similar symptoms.Came across this site, for short money this guy will send you step by step repair directions, or he will fix it for you if you ship it. More expensive of course. I plan on tackling it myself. There is always EBAY. too.
