I have a 2004 350Z roadster. Suddenly the CD changer stopped recognizing the CDs. I tried reloading all discs but all I get is a "check disc" display. I also have the rear speaker cutting out problem that I understand is typical with the Bose product.
Is it toast?

It's a known issue. I've heard Nissan say it happens faster with discs burned form a home computer (something to do with the actual thickness of the disc) but I can't confirm that. Mine does the same thing from time to time. You could always go with an aftermarket unit (I won't since it's tied in with the factory nav unit), but if you want to stay OEM there are two real solutions...

You can buy a refurb from FeeBay or have yours removed and repaired. I've checked around and found that repair charges can sometimes cost more than a bargain unit on FeeBay.

Thanks, I have been using burned discs but today it was working again when I plugged in a regular cd. I then tried burned discs and everything worked. Who knows, maybe it'll never happen again. Thank you for the quick response.
