I have a 1995 Q45t with about 95,500 miles on it. The right tweeter occasionally makes some crackling noises. I've done some searching on the forums about Bose system repair, but haven't seen anything that really answers my question. I'm wondering if anyone knows if this would be a result of an amp going bad, or would it just be the tweeter itself? I really don't want to pull the speaker/amp unit and send it in for repair if I don't have to, and it seems to me it would be cheaper to just replace the tweeter with an OE replacement. I don't normally just do the cheapo thing, especially when it comes to my music, but my ECU is throwing a code 34, so I get to do knock sensors (yay!) and so my cash flow is going to be negatively affected here pretty quick.

Anyway, about the tweeter, i have personally never heard of just the tweeter going bad... HOWEVER thats not to say its not possible... I woudl try and find a used one from someone here on the board and see if it fixes it... Bottom line is its probably worth the $10-$30 itd cost to get a used one..

And look at all the hoses under the plenum since you will be going that deep.

I plan to take care of everything I can while I'm under there. I'd rather not have to pull it off again soon after I do it because I was lazy and didn't check/replace something I should have while I was under there the first time.
