Bose Audio player having problems

I have a 1993 Nissan Maxima with a Bose Audio system and it has some issues. I am not extremely car savvy but I can do somethings and am good at fixing things as long as I have instructions.

The display wont light up.
The CD player and Tape Deck wont work, yet the radio works.
It wont switch from Radio to CD or Tape (when a CD and Tape have been entered). And I can't exactly see what is going on because the display on the entire center panel (including the AC/Heater) is out. But the fuses are in great condition.

I need to know if I can fix these problems or just go out and try and find a compatible stereo system. And some how fix the display issues.
I am beside myself on what is wrong with it, and feedback on what I should do would be greatly appreciated.
