Can I install a rear view cam in my Factory Bose Audio Unit?

And if so, What model is this cam and how can I install? (just plug and play?)

Some details:
2010 Altima SL
Bose Audio Unit Model PY05F
Without factory cam

Thanks for advanced...

I'll try to see if I can find the part number. I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to find one and just install it. It should work without issue. The hard part will be running wires from the trunk forward, but it should be completely doable.

I was wondering if anyone's ever tried to buy one of those rear view cameras you can find on ebay... You can find one to replace the license plate light with a light + camera.

I really want to buy one, and if anyone's done it please let me know... I'm talking about all the cameras you see if you look up "rear view camera nissan teana"

Some guy said that it not that simple, cam with Bose Head Unit have a module to convert video (digital maybe) from cam to the input in Bose HU.

I dont know where to connect cam to this HU, I just know that its no RCA Video in, so...

If someone know how to connect a simple RCA Cam to this HU... please let me know :)

Here is as far as I got.... Our HU is made by panasonic the speakers are made by bose. I contacted Panasonic and they were reluctant but provided me wit the rear diagram for our HU. I'll attach it to this post. What I dont understand is why it is soo damn hard to find the parts. What if the car was in an accident and the wires from the cam to the HU were damaged how the hell would you replace it... anyway just my 2 cents. check the diagram there is an input for vid in but its a 8 pin or something....

Well its seem that the cam is in CN201 but what I dont know if put a simple cam connected the video in PIN 15 and 16 and supply 6.2V in PIN 14 (+) (and PIN 13 to the Chassis GND) get the video in the HU... simple than that???

mmmh I think PIN 13 & 14 is output, to turn on camera and cam send video to PIN 15 & 16... so how can HU know to change display to the cam video???

Maybe if HU detect video in PIN 15 & 16 its when appears in display...
Maybe 'cause receive 12V in PIN 30 and detect video in PIN 15 & 16 its when appears in display...

Anybody???

I am stuck. Can a nissan employee here look up the parts? lol from what i've researched you also need a module that goes along with the cam, if i read correctly. that module controls the turning the cam on/off when the car is put in reverse and sends signal to the HU.

Really dont know, but maybe, this module is just a relay, when it received 6V close a circuit and send 12V to the cam (in order to turn it on), also to "convert" the signal video (from cam) to their own type of cable (instead of simple RCA)... all this is my guess.

This is what I understand about this...

When you shift to Reverse:
1) HU in PIN 30 (in connector M45) received 12V
2) HU in PIN 14 (same connector) send 6.2V
3) Module (Part #284A1-JA000) received 6.2V and (my guess) send 12V (or whatever Volts need the rear cam)
4) Rear cam (Part #28442-JA000) received 12V (or whatever need) and turn it on, then send video throu the module
5) HU in PIN 15 & 16 received video and it shows in HU Display

If this is correct... then just simple connect cable from a universal RCA rear cam in PIN 15 & 16 and supply 12V from reverse tail lights...

I cant do anything else, need first a universal RCA rear cam in order to test, but if anyone knows... please tell me :)

Well my car doesnt full pre-wire in HU, its wire PIN 5 to 13 and 28-29, its means no pre-wire to rear view cam (PIN 13- 16 and maybe 30):

This is a picture from the back of my HU:

And, as you said, its Panasonic:

Now the hard work is find connector of that kind of harness in order to connect a cam, and I really dont know where to find those...

The wierd thing here is, wtf its wire PIN 13-CAM_GND and not 14-CAM_6V, 15-CAM_IN and 16-CAM_Shld... ???
