The bose head unit and the base head unit will likely differ.

I've seen every answer under the sun regarding this issue.

There is a NICO sponsor that repairs these for $250. If you go from Bose to base, you'll likely need to adjust the wiring some how.

Save up some money and go for the JDM double-din conversion. I plan on doing it once I save up enough money. And it's so tempting, seeing how I keep seeing the Pioneer Avic-D3 on sale everywhere.

And to tempt you even more, here's a diy I found heh

The JDM double din kit is made in japan spefically for your car. You can get it in your color for the dash. Will look great.

that is the JDM version, which eliminates the dual climate control button. You can solder in the one from your existing radio though.

the other double din kit is made by turbo i think. The buttons aren't as nice as the JDM in my opinion.

Heh.... as much as I would like to do this conversion, from what I've seen and read, it's not a simple thing to do. And of course theres more things to buy to make everything work, like the steering wheel controls. Search double-din and you'll see a lot of people who did the conversion.

The conversion is actually not that difficult. I've done a lot of stereos and this wasn't that bad. hardest part about mine was the Navigation reinstallation and DVD tap into it.

ill search around.

but as for the first link for the double din, how are those? as in the aftermarket ones? the jdm one is a bit pricey-er.

and how is one able to keep the steering controls?

Oh snap you have the conversion? Can you post any pics of how it fits, as in how far the aftermarket headunit sticks out if any? Any regrets, complaints, or praises? I was thinking of getting the pioneer avic n4 single din and rewiring my volume control for my sub into the other slot....

Currently I'm using the TURBO double din conversion

When I ordered it I had no idea the buttons were going to be rubber (my only complaint)...but it kept the dual climate feature so i like that part of it(praise).

As of right now, I'm just using a Single DIN setup until I find the HU that i really want (I only go with alpine head units, best quality IMO)

The dash piece fits nicely and the head unit will sit back in about 5 mm or so. It looks nice.

I dont have my camera with me or i'd take a few pics to show you.

I use aftermarket stuff, so I just rewired the speakers to my 4 channel and have my subs wired with a different amp. If i used the head unit to push the speakers I'd have just rewired them to the head unit.

Johnpark:Sounds like you are going to be taking the volume level from a rear speaker to your amp for your sub. Not the best for sound quality, but adequate for most people.

iamshadow:in order to keep the steering wheel controls you need 2 things: #1 a head unit that supports steering wheel controls, #2 the connecting piece for the G35 that hooks into the deck. ($80-$100 for this piece last time i checked on prices)

I just got my car back yesterday from the installer.

I did the JDM AC control unit from Grubbs and put a double din deck in. The installer carried the dual climate button over. But he also had to take the LED and one of the capacitors from the old unit.

Here's a link with pics:
