Herro, hey I just wanted to let everyone that reads this know to NEVER try or buy Bosch Platinum Plugs, you will only be wasting your time and money. They make your car sputter and hesitate... i'm about to go downstairs to the garage and snatch those outa there and put the OLD NGK's In. I dont think i'm going to stray from the NGK irridiums again.

ahhh don't use Bosch Platinum Spark Plugs. If you look at the faq section, they tell not to use those. Also if you do a search, you find some posts regarding those.

I actually have a box of Bosch Platinum Spark Plugs sitting on my desk. My cousin tried those spark plugs on his 93 coupe and made his car run like crap. Then when he tried to take them out, the plugs somehow got stuck in there.

He then gave me the spark plugs for free saying that they will work for my car for sure, even though i drive a 93 hatch?!!

I just use regular NGK's.

i used platinums for years before i started tinkering with my car. They worked great, got good gas mileage, had decent power, etc. Now i have denso iridiums and i have to say that they beat platinums hands down.

Even my 35 year old muscle cars hate the Bosch Plats. The only engine I can remember that liked them was the Jeep 4.0 HO. Its ran strong and they lasted an eternity.

Those 35 year old muscle cars, like our 240sx's, were never designed to run platinum spark plugs. In fact, the KA engines were designed to run with NGK's. As for the 4.0L Jeep, I think that engine will take anything you throw at it. Just a well built motor all around.

By the way, for the last year I ran Bosch platinums in my 240sx (I was really tired when I went to the store and they had signs everywhere that said bosch so it was the first brand that came to mind), and recently replaced them with the correct NGK's. I can't say it made that much of a difference, but I'll stick with what the engine was designed for from now on.

I bought some HKS Irridums (denso) when I was in japan... they were awesome. I paid out the butt for them though.

No -----> Bosch Yes-----> NGK. I was told by a mechanic friend that Bosch/Silverstone plugs are for Euro cars/trucks, NGK/Denso are for Japanese vehicles and Autolite/Champion Domestic vehicles. Hope this helps.

I think it's funny how so many "opinions" fly without anyone even MENTIONING the concept of gapping or torquing!! HA HA The performance of your plugs completely dependent upon proper installation.

yeah but also don't forget that most of the bosch are pre gapped as well as some NGK's...but then again good point taken..I'm using gay *** bosch now also they run like ****....the local auto parts store don't carry any NGK on stock so it'll have to be special ordered....that's freakin rediculous

My Bosch plugs were factory pre-gapped in the middle of the acceptable gap interval. I put them in without adjustment. I expect that had I lessened the gap to the smaller end of the interval, the spark would be easier to create. I didn't bother because the ignition system is plenty powerful and I know I'm a semi-noob. Until I have more experience, I will stick to fixing broken stuff.

I changed my plugs out a few eeks back and things seemed just fine for awhile. But recently I have been noticing alot more sputtering and now I am wonding if it has to do with the Bosch dual platinums I put in. I called my local parts store and they have NGK iridiums for like $7 each ( which could be worse I guess ) and I am thinkin I wanna put those in now to see if things clear up a bit. Any suggestions? Should I spend the $30 or save it and get $2 replacement plugs? I need to know in the next 3 hours or so because I am going to the track tonight and would rather not go on ugly plugs.

bosch plugs just do not work well with the ka motor. but it is always good to double check the gap before you put it them in.

Never buy autolite anything ever if you have a choice.

Also, NGKs come pre-gapped. I've checked them every time and they've always been spot on. And torquing spark plugs isn't really a big deal, just so long as you get them tight enough for no leak you aren't going to have a problem. I doubt it's a huge thing considering it's very easy to tell when you have a leak (plug wire pops off).

I have an NA KA and i was using the Bosch Platinum 2x and at first I thought they were really good, then Ive been noticing some sputtering and things like that with the car when I start it up. As soon as I was reading these threads about the Bosch, I went and got the NGK Iridiums and replaced the wires with NGK wires also. And the car really runs amazing, it pulls really well, but its not about power, its really about how smooth the overall feel of the car is now. My Girlfriend always rides with me, and she even told me she feels a really big difference.

NGK all the way - worth every penny
