Bosch platinum plugs for 1991 240sx?

My brother/mechanic put them in two years ago. Do they really cause trouble? if so, exactly what kind of trouble? i did fail an emissions idle test for HC and CO.

I had them installed when i first bought my car and it ran fine, but Nissans come with NGK's so that was reason enough for me to switch over to them.

personally I only run NGK's for reliability and how well they perform. But that doesnt mean other brands are bad. I think denso's are alright and HKS Plugs are good too if you're willing to fork out the cash. But I've just heard too many stories of the Bosch plugs having the nodes break off IIRC, or something along those lines.

i ran bosch plugs successfully on my sohc engine.... but only the copper super plugs or the single electrode platinum variety; both passed my nj emissions.

i heard bad stuff about the multiple electrode ones...

I have never had problems with NGKs. I have had a few problems with Bosch and Autolites.

my sister had bosch plugs in her VW beetle. something about them broke off, and the mechanical damage led her to getting a new engine. i would never trust em. i'd rather dish out the cash for the HKS.

my instructors advise us, to never use bosch platinums.

I used the Platinum +4 ones, and I had random missfires, switched to NGK and had no problems. Generaly use the type of plugs that the manufacturer uses.

I guess I can't really speak one way or the other from my own experience, but that is what everyone says around here and I figure.... how can 32951 Nico members be wrong?

I have NGK V-powers, still cheaper than their top-of-the-line plugs, but an improvement over OEM NGK's. Oh, NGK wires are worth the $ too.

I believe those are stock OEM NGK plugs, at least that’s what I pulled out of my KA the first time I changed plugs. I'm rocking NGK Iridium IX's and absolutely love them.
