I have been having conversations with Borla to try to get them to move faster in releasing the Borla Catback Exhaust system for the Altima Coupe. The standard line has been 60 to 90 days, however I believe that they are closer than that. I'm not sure that this is within the rules of the board but I though I would create a poll to show Borla what the potential demand would be to get them to speed up the timeframe a bit.

So the question is... Based on what you know today, if the Borla system were available at a reasonable price would you buy it?

Personally, I'd rather wait for other systems to become available to consider my options. I'm not going to jump at the first system available for my car just because its there first.

If the results of this are impressive enough we might be able to get Borla to offer a group discount and perhaps an early release to altimacoupe.com members. You never know unless you ask.

As a side note, my doorbell just rang and it was my Injen intake at the door

Trust me, I'm not doing this to have the pleasure of handling orders. I'm just trying to get them to move faster for selfish reasons . Hopefully they will come through and offer it early and provide some type of link with a coupon code or something like that to make it easy for us to order. I doubt it, but you never know...

Not to get off subject, but Kidatheart do you have a intake for your G? If you don't I might have something for you pretty cheap. A JWT Pop Charger and Z-Tube. Let me know.

Thanks for the offer but I am pretty sure that these will not work in the 07 Sedan. The sedan has the VQ35HR engine and these are designed for the VQ35DE engine that was in the sedan up through 06 and was in the 07 coupe (and is what is in our Altima's I believe thus we don't get the 306 Horses that the G sedan gets).

Could one of you explain what benefits this would be to the Coupe?

I have no understanding of why I would want to consider doing this, or anyone, so, if someone could explain this to me, I would truly appreciate it.

Does this make the car faster? Louder? More efficient in some way? Save gass mileage? or just looks nice?

Thanks. I appreciate the education I have gotten from being here. I would, however, love to see a Glossary of Car Terms posted, because I am clueless.

More horsepower (numbers are not out yet but are typically 5% to 15% increase), more agressive sound, better gas mileage under normal driving conditions (but when you have more power you will likely not drive like you normally would), and it looks nice. This is true with most any high performance exhaust.

I talked to Borla today and found out the following good news / bad news:

1. The exhausts for the coupe are out of engineering and are ready for production

2. They are waiting on some final sign offs and paperwork before they can schedule production for these units.

3. They are still quoting the 60 to 90 day dates for availability

4. They are open to the idea of a group discount

5. Once they are released then it is a free-for-all as they will be available to all sales channels

What would the group discount be?? plus are there any new videos of the Borla, broken in? A lil too V8 sounding for my taste. Id rather have a more smoother tone such as a nismo/stillen cat-back for the Z, type of sound.

Don't know yet about the discount it would depend on how many are committed.

Also, I spoke with Stillen today and they say that they hope to have a catback out soon for the Altima Coupe but will not give out any estimates on dates. They also claim that there are already dozens of people waiting for them once they are released so they can't committ to a group discount.

well i am in the market for an exhaust system and actually prefer this one over the nismo only because the nismo includes a restrictive crimp in their piping. hopefully this group buy will also include the exhaust system for the sedan and not just coupe exclusive!

Borla is on my list of things I am going to do on my coupe. You guys would be proud to know I finally gave in and removed the damn wind deflector, and yes it looks much better! I am also going with an intake, I would like to see a K&N come around but might not wait for them. Wheels and tires after that, thinking 19's but nothing decided. I would definately get in on a Borla deal!

I figured that much - because there is no aftermarket exhaust out yet - and people are anxious for that and any other mod - it will be real hard to get a discount. Too many people want the item and will be willing to pay for it.

Ah, yes...the beauty of economics. Supply and demand are market forces to be reckoned with!

I just left a message for Borla to see if they have an updated timeframe now that Stillen has released the exhaust for the 2.5 coupe and will be releasing the 3.5 coupe exhaust in the next few weeks. I'll post back when I hear anything.

If you work out anything I'd be interested. I had a Borla exhaust on my Cougar and LOVED the sound of it. I can only imagine that it would even sound better on this car.

I'd like a "smart" exhaust or "adaptive" one whatever its called. where it's only after let's say 3500rpms or 4000rpms that you begin to hear the power

I don't want one where there's always a low frequency hum like a sub is switched on when I'm daily driving. it gets irritating after a while.

Oh I like that idea! Your right ... when your just cruising I don't care to hear anything either (or when your not stomping on it!).

The Borla I had on my Cougar did that pretty well. Most poeple didn't notice it except when you hit on it or if you were standing right behind it idling. Inside the cabin it didn't make much sound at all which I loved! I'm all about a comfy environment; which is why this Altima Coupe appealed so much to me anyway.

Back when I had my Probe GT ... The Borla on that had a constant annoying hum that after sometime of any long distance driving would give me a headache! I most certainly do not want anything like that again.

hey adidas2go, could you tell us if the borla is heard when driving normally? like a low frequency annoying sound. PLZ even if you love your borla tell us the truth, because I would hate to buy something and have it installed only to be annoyed by a constant bass sound when daily driving! thx!

I heard back from Borla and they said that it is still 30 to 60 days out before they will be available for sale.

its only at like 3200 rpm or 60% throttle where is starts the growl. So when your traveling under 95 you dont hear anything. its when you hit that 3-4500 range that it has that growl. Then it turns into an all engine sound from there considering i have the injen installed now.

I wan't to know too, I had Borlas on my Z and Titan, at idle you'd never be able to tell you had a souped up exhaust...hopefully its the same for this one too.
