Just wondering if anyone was aware of the maximum recommended bore for a steel sleeved KA block. I ran a few searches, but came back empty handed. I know of Dodge Neons running a 3.92L displacement out of a 2.0L block, and got to wondering what the max would be for the DOHC 2.4L KA.John

You sure that noens are running 3.92L out of a 2.0 block, cause that is almost double, I find that hard to believe. Now for the ka, most people that bore it go with a 89.5mm or 90mm (stock is 89). I have heard of one guy that went up to 91mm. Since you are posting this in a turbo ka forum, I'm going to assume that you are going for turbo. If that is true I wouldn't bore at all, or at max 89.5. You will need all that stength you can get out of the ka if you are going turbo.

edit: even if you are not going turbo I wouldn't suggest going over the 90mm.

I know I'll need all the wall that I can keep, 'cause yeah, I'll be pressure cookin' soon. I was thinking of steel sleeves, and wondering what I could open those up to. As for the Neons, only the all motor boys run that big, and I'm pretty sure it is on the 2.0L block, not the 2.4L; but I could be wrong. I am building up the bottom end, and looking to get the ARP head studs that one of the members here advertises on Ebay. I know I can open up steel sleeves a bit, and any little bit would help. Just wondering if anyone has done it, or seen it done. My turbo should be here in 2-3 weeks (Custom built out of Turbonetics). Until then, I'm simply trying to plan out the next phase of the project.John
