well guys, ive already got an intake on my car, but couldnt help notice such a small hole all that air had to go through (throttle body). Sooo i was wondering if it would actually help any if i bored out hte throttle body a couple mm (i dunno what stock size is?). I know DSM guys do this with good results, using basically a dremel tool and patience. Im confident i can do this (i also have a spare intake manifold and throttle body to 'try' it on fist) and was curious if it would help any? Also, if i bored the throttle body, would i have to bore the intake mani too to see results?

Actually, our throttle body is one of the largest for a 4 cyl. engine i've seen. It's already 60 mm, what do you think you need? You know, some of the old Z31 300zx's have an even smaller throttle body than we do, and the suprising fact is they have a V6!?! They actually can (and usually do) use the throttle body of a 240sx SOHC ('89-'90) and bolt it on to their engines cause it fits and is so large.

It really won't make a worthwhile difference for the cost, also there is very little metal between the lip and where the edge of the butterfly valve touches so it would be hard to do this and have a reliable idle.

wow! i didnt think it was so damn big. My friends looking to get his bored out to 54mm (i believe its 3 mm over stock) on his 99 DSM N/T. I just wasnt sure if it was worth the trouble, it wouldnt cost anything (i already have a dremel tool :) and am very good with it). Well if the throttle body is already 6omm, then what about the intake mani? Wouldnt it be smart to bore it out to match or is that already 6omm as well/

Well if you were to do it, a dremel isn't coing to be a good tool. You actually want to take it to a machine shop to do. You want the bore to be circular. You would also need to fabricate a new throttle plate.

I think getting the intake mani reworked is a better idea...at least before the TB:)
