Is it true that the co-op mode for PC is running into issues?

I just spent 3 hours playing coop on the PC with no issues AT ALL.It was a LAN game, though, not a gamespy game. But I don't think that makes much different.

I came into this late.

MOD,I agree with you on a couple of points. it NEEDS some type of storage. But I kinda like the "real" factor of not having a ridiculous amount of backpack storage.Quest tracking - they need to add multiple tracking optionJump - I think pandora has lower gravity idk, I don't like how it seems to jump the characters height.

My biggest gripe is the inability to properly use the mouse in the UI.I should be able to scroll through quest text, or click the arrows, but NO i have to hit page up/down. Hitting enter to start the game instead of clicking etc. It's not a deal breaker but it irks me.

Haven't played any co-op yet but a couple friends are getting it within the next day or so.

On a related note - Torchlight is at 66%

Haven't had a chance. I was out with a migraine most of the day.

I can appreciate the real factor in SOME games (it's perfect for Crysis, for instance). Borderlands is not the kind of game that stands to benefit from that kind of needless "realism."

You can actually jump on top of your fellow players. You can't stand there, though; you'll float off.

I just came from Wal-mart and they don't have any copies, there wasn't even a spot on the shelf for this game and Gamestop is closed, I doubt they would have had one either so my day is ruined.

Only complaint so far with this game is sometimes items disappear. Lets say i play co-op and go through an area if i needed to pick up something for another objective and the other play picks it up i can't get it at a later time.

Yeah I know, why does everything I download off Steam take so long? When I got Prince Of Persia a couple of months ago it took like 3 or 4 days to download.

So the verdict is that I should buy this for my PC not my 360, right? I usually prefer FPS games on PC more anyways.

(haha, the commercial for it just came on TV)

Definitely get it for PC.the ONLY perk the 360 version has is splitscreen.

Also, anyone using steam should join the NICO steam group. I"m on there as Manicman.

Went to the darkside and picked up the 360 version.

So far so good. Pretty damn fun actually, if only i picked it up much much earlier cuz MW2 is upon us and i dont think ill have time to finish an otherwise brilliant game.

Borderlands is a lot of fun, but I think Gearbox has a lot to learn about balance and spawning. I'm getting sick of the game repeatedly spawning enemies on me to create a challenge. One of the most basic rules of difficulty balance is that fewer smart enemies is preferable to more stupid ones.

But my BIG nitpick is incessant respawns after I've cleared an area out. You don't even get to zone out of an area before the enemies come back. Walk to one end, clearing out everyone on the way, and if you want to walk back you'll suddenly be facing respawns of the guys you already killed! It's really, really irritating.

The game has no PACING. It's all combat ALL THE TIME. Walk past this canyon, some guys come out after you. EVERY TIME. Walk past that shack, guys come out. EVERY TIME. You NEVER get a breather. Never get a chance to appreciate the scenery or the massive bad-guy cleanup you've done. Because the badguys just come back. It really hampers the feel of the world and also impairs the feeling of progress through the game. It just ends up feeling like one big long fight with some loading screens in the middle. I'm sick of fighting my way in AND OUT of every area. I'm sick of fighting the same monsters at the same spot every time I look that direction.

The game needs some improvements in AI, pacing, spawning, and balance. It starts to get frustrating and tedious: two things you NEVER want to happen in a game you're playing for fun.

Basically, after about half an hour of $50 Borderlands, I start thinking "I could be playing Torchlight instead." Which is a $20 game that has pacing, spawing, and balance down pat.

So far I've clocked an hour and a half of time playing as Roland. I had a great time until I got to 9 Toes. I was too low of level to utilize the primary skill. After a few deaths, I managed to kill his skags by a glitch (they were stuck on one side of the catwalk before 9 Toes' arena and I sniped them from the spawn side), which leveled me up and gave me the drone. I couldn't imagine trying to do that boss fight solo again. 3 mobs above your level and you have to stay mobile, which negates the benefit of stationary defenses. However, once I beat 9 Toes, the fun came back as I exited Skag Valley. I closed the program down shortly after to go to bed.

As of now, I don't mind the respawns as I have yet to encounter a point where I feel they respawned too fast. Plus, I do like the stats aspect of the game, and the random generated guns are fun. After I'm done with Roland, I'm gonna give Lilith a try as her phase walk ability looks absurdly fun.

Is there a way to respec in the game? That would be nice so I could respec a toon to play co-op with a friend so we don't end up with overlapping skill trees.

You can respec at the "New-U" stations that let you change your color and name. It costs cash, though.

Lilith is a blast. I am really impressed with how enjoyable melee combat is in Borderlands. It feels really fluid and natural and is every bit as fun as ranged/gun combat. I'm playing Lilith coop alongside a damage build Roland. I LOVE Phasewalk. It's devastating when used well. My solo character is Mordecai, and while he's fun...he's nowhere near as fun as Lilith.

MOD,

while I do agree with your pacing arguments I have to say that's one of the things I like. Because it's an RPS and not a standard RPG, it's not a boring hack fest for me to re-kill enemies. It's duck and cover and headshot them all over again My Mordecai is fun.

On a sidenote, Torchlight really is an amazing game for the price. Sure it just a reiteration of the Diablo formula, in a less gothic environment. But it's tons of fun, balanced well and a blast. My alchemist beats his enemies with a totem pole, then Ironman style mows them down with an AIM-ABLE beam blast from his palm, I can pretty much make him into the spinning disco ball of doom.

I love the DLC zombies!

NEW DLC ALERT!

Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot - new DLC for Borderlands. Makes it kind of like a GoW2 Horde mode as you run through an area and have to kill waves of enemies....comes at the end of the month for 360, and the beginning of the Jan for PS3.

Woot!
