I just discovered the boot on the passenger side tie rod is now in two pieces. What should I do? Can I just buy a new boot for it or could I have possibly damaged anything else? Just thinking about how when a cv boot tears and leaks out the grease its recommended to replace the whole cv shaft. Thanks for any advise.

are you talking about just the dust jacket boot thingie that attaches to the inner tie rod, or are you talking about the rubber bushing that's on the outer tie rod? The outer's one is filled with grease (its a bushing), the inner one is just a dust jacket.

Either way it should be replaced. If it's the dust boot expect it to be semi expensive though, a dust boot for my strut from Napa was friggin $20.00, and this one is a little bigger.... The tie rod if thats what it is, you gotta replace both of em and that'll run you about $50

Go to your local nissan dealership and tell them you need part #N48203-10V25. The boots are about 22 bucks each.

OR GO TO NAPA AND SPEND HALF THAT. THE BOOT IS REPLACABLE. IT MORE THAN LIKELY CAUSED NO DAMAGE AS ALL IT DOES IS KEEPS DUST AWAY FROM THE RACK.

TO THAT CV THING, ITS A PLOY TO GET YOU TO BUY NEW AXLES. YOU CAN EASILY REBUILD A CV SHAFT AND IT'LL BE GOOD AS NEW. THE ONLY TIME YOU REALLY HAVE TO CHANGE IT IS IF THE METAL RUBBING ON METAL IS DESTROYING EACH OTHER.
