I know that the lower the boost temp. is, the better. But is there a set temp. average you should not be running over? That way you would know that your turbo or intercooler is not working at a efficient level. I'm running a smic at 10psi on my s14blktop. I want to turn up the boost to 12psi. I've researched on the smic limitations. I would like to install a boost temp gauge to see just what boost temperatures I'm dumping into the engine.

i don't think there's a temp gauge that measures incoming air temperature.

I'm sure there something out there to do this with. I new a fellow miata owner who did this with his na car. He was measuring air temps at the airfilter and also just before the throttle body. I have a boost temp sensor on my Turbo miata with the Link. It displays air temps on my lab top while conducting Datalogs. I want something made up more simple that can be removed when I'm through with the testing. I recently did some testing with a air temp gauge I bought from Harbor freight for 7 bucks. I was testing the air intake temps around the airfilter with a heatshield in place I made.

any electric temp sensor could do this, you would just have to install it on your IC piping without causing any leaks. You could leave it in there permanatly, 'cause guages are cool :D Plus you can get some early knock warning if its a hot day and the sidemount cant keep up.

That's want I want to do is see how the smic handles 10-12psi of boost. I live in South Florida and it can gets hot here in the summer.Right now it's cool and the cars likes the cool weather. On a cold day,I'm actually seeing 10.5 in first and 11psi in sec and 12psi when the car is in drive during a hard run. I know I'm getting boost creep due to the temperature affecting the cheap boost controller I bought on ebay.I would like to know at what temperature is there need for concern?

Nathan = confused now. As for boost temperature, I too would like to know what a "good" temperature would be.
