Well I got a boost spike issue, at least I think.
I have a 180sx, Red top... clean and stock, besides some very minor part replacements. The car runs great except for one issue.
The issue is that if I start my car, (let if warm up a bit), and start driving (hardish) I can boost 10psi (according to my boost gauge), which I know is above normal boost. It also seems to shoot up there from 5psi very quick. Now, if I keep reving around 2k from starts and gear shifts the spike keeps occuring 90% of the time. Once I stop and pull off slowely I get a stumble and then the highest boost I get it 5-6psi.
The weirdest thing is if I am cruising, and do a rolling car start, aka turn it off for 5-10seconds, and back on the car runs like it did at start up. :wtf2:

This is well beyond my knowledge base, and would applicate any help you guys could give me. ITS IRRITATING when I get passed by a stock 90's civic!

p.s.) I have a boost controller I was preparing to install, but with this and aircare coming up I have been holding off.
Vacuum is perfect. Oil preasure seems to be what would be expected, except it shows 2psi after serious pushing. A/F (stoich) is perfect.

1- what kind of boost gauge are you using? manual or digital? if its manual, than the reading you are getting could be wrong all together. 2- how do you have your vacuum line routed for the waste gate?

Is it possible its a defective factory boost control solenoid?
Can I just bypass it??
-------
I'm using an autometer, vacuum goes straight to the gauge, not sure if that answers your question.
Second, My vaccum line is stock, but I did check all the lines to make sure there are no cracks or leaks... and my vaccum is stable(no leaks)

One weird thing I noticed is if I dont floor it passed 10psi, I can always go to 10...but as soon as I floor it and go to 10 and over My car refuses to get to that level again, and its at 5psi, just like I described.

Sorry for the noob answer, but I dont know much about turbos. I believe my vaccum comes off intake manifold and go directly to the acctuator... if thats the stock route, its sraight from japan, not a ka24de replacement.

Cheers,
