Well all is well in turbo land. I am having this boost spike problem with my wastegate. The wastegate is a stone racing external 35mm wastegate with a 0.4 bar spring. Well thank God I have the fuel and fuel management for the boost that it is running, but still need to fix the problem. The problem is that I get full boost at 1 bar and then dies off between 0.5 and 0.7 bar and then repeats the process in each gear. All of the vacuum lines are hooked up properly. Tomorrow I am going to get a manual boost controller to hope fix the boost spike and response.

However, when I first got the wastegate it had a .7 bar spring in it, but replaced it with the 0.4 bar spring. I was wondering if there is anyone who has changed out wastegate springs before? When I put in the 0.4 bar spring I put it in by the side that had a snug and tight fit, does it really matter which end I place the wastegate in it's housing?

the boost controller probably wont fix the problem since they cannot lower boost levels. are your vaccuum lines clamped or zip tied? also why not try putting the .7 bar spring back in? that will get rid of one variable.

what is a Stone Racing 35mm external wastegate?Ive heard of Stone Racing (SS Autochrome) but i didnt know they manufacture wastegates. Is it really a Turbonetics Deltagate or what cuz they are common for boost spike?

It's sold by ssautochrome under Stone Racing. They look just like Tial Wastegates. I thought about getting one but because it is such an important piece I just sucked it up and bought a known quantity (Tial).

One of my vacuum line is held by a zip tie, because it is alittle to big. Will that cause anything any kind of boost spike. Yeah, the boost controller didn't do anything at all. I set it at the lowest setting and it still managed to shoot up to 1 bar. I don't think me putting in the other wastegate will help, because if I am running 1 bar already, it will only cause me to boost higher and i don't have the fuel mangagement for that kind of boost on stock internals. I think I am going to take off the old one and see what it looks like inside. I am also going to start looking for a 38mm tial wastegate.

if you can tug on the vaccuum line without it coming off it should be good. if this is leaking under boost then it can be causing your problem. i have a thick line for my wastegate and a hose clamp to keep it tight.
