Boost problems...

I'v got things working again.. but, i'm having problems.. No to little boost in first gear and it spools really high in first 4500rpm.. okay in every other gear but lower psi than i'd like.. it runs @ 5psi... its a stock z31 turbo so shouldn't it be @ 7psi?

what air filter are you using? my buddy used a rag temporarily on his d16 turbo project and it didn't flow enough air for him to make good boost.

A rag? Try using aluminum window screen, thats the only thing I run, but thats because the distributor cap is in front of the comp inlet.

you also arent running a maf tho rick. would it be safe to run no filter with a maf? it already has a screen on it?

No...run a filter. Especially on a MAF setup. The tiny T3 from an older 300Z should spool right away. I don't know what the stock wastegate is set to, but you should spool very quickly, unless of course the turbo is damaged.

Check the adj on the wastegate actuator...I'd bet it's a little loose, allowing the WG to open prematurely, hurting spool.

Tighten it some, to preload the actuator, and try again...let us know what happens.

Also, where is the WG signal from? If it's the compressor outlet, then the intercooler could be providing a 2psi pressure drop, so the mani only sees 5psi, but the turbo outlet shows 7 like it should. Try switching the WG line to the intake mani if it's on the compressor outlet...

okay i'll try that orion, im not quite sure how to adjust the wastegate properly... the rod broke so i have a sleve connecting the two.. also my car feels like a dog 1 and 2 gears... and it goes better when i'm 1/2 throttle rather than full throttle... another question.. my turbo is really loud... i can hear it spool up and boost from a block away, is this normal?

what exhaust do you have? my buddy's del sol with a .60/.63 T3 is dumping out his downpipe and the turbo spool is VERY VERY loud.
