Ive noticed this before with my car but never really did anything till now because i was waiting on my built engine. the problem is my wastegate seems to dump when i start to boost the slightest bit. when i go wot i will slowly get to about 10-12 lbs of boost but that will take me through the whole rpm band. during this whole time the wastegate will be open from initial boost. my set up doesnt have a boost controller yet. this is what im runnin...

38mm tial wg (open dump) i took the wastegate apart and it looks like its a 4.** or a 8.** spring. its red...bd manifold and dpt3 super 6072lb injectorsjwt ecu tune300zx mafshks ssq bov

i have the boost signal to the wastegate coming from the compressor side of the turbo. and again i dont have a boost controller yet. a manual one is in the mail. ive tried to change the signal line and that didnt do a thing, its 1/4 id. any help or hints would be great

you might try running the ID signal to the wastegate from your intake manifold. I noticed a difference when I ran mine from the intake (where I have it right now) since the wastegate will be run based off of the pressure at your intake.

I have a BD manifold and have my signal coming from the compressor side and it works fine. The signal was connected to internal wastegate before I removed it. Also hooked up a mbc. What ever you do don`t hook it up to the bottom port. You can go to the web site and see the spring colors and what psi it is rated. there is the small spring rating and the large spring rating.

sounds like an overboosting problem.

hard to exactly narrow down the problem but its either too much restriction in the wastegate inlet pipe (too small of port or not enough porting or is too long and too many bends etc lol) or outlet isnt scavenging good enough or maybe something else (possibly running open downpipe only-not enough restriction?)

whats your exhaust setup?

exhaust setup is an open dump right off the wastegate. the dump tube is 1 1/2. is that the problem u think? ill try to see if there is another way to reroute to get a larger dump if needed...

what about your actual exhaust system setup? (open downpipe? full exhaust? etc)

the exhuast goes from the 3'' dp to a 2.5 cat to a apexi dual n1 cat back... i can take a pic and send it if wanted. im considering running an electronic exhaust cutout before the cat.

klattr, i took off the dump tube from the wastegate and it works like a charm. im gonna have to figure out a more direct way i guess to le the exhaust go out.

one question, i got a manual boost controller in the mail today. do i keep the signal line from the compressor side of the turbo to the side of the wastegate or do i take it off and just run the boost controller from the top nipple?
