problem:turbo doesn't spool much and won't go into boost, it'll settle at 0 vac and the engine doesn't want to rev past 3k, it hesitates badly

background:walking the yard one day with a friend of mine and seen a turbo on a thunderbird turbo coupe, decided to put it on my friends 89 nissan 240sx

got everything hooked up and functioning as it should BUT there are still a few post turbo loose ends to tie up

I do efi tuning on fords, I've never dealth with the nissan's before, Ford ecu's are mass air and calculate fueling so adding boost on a ford doesn't require any tuning as long as your not exceeding your maf/injectors, only need to adjust spark and transients

now his nissan does have what appears to be a maf sensor but it doesn't quite have enough inputs for me to think it functions as a mass air system. So im thinking that the nissans are speed density which sucks, is this correct?

have a 10:1 FMU and the stock regulator vac line removed, but it still utilizes the stock injectors, swapped plugs to autolite double plats 3922 gapped at 30

have no idea how to mess with spark, on a ford they have a spout connector (spark output) which is the interface from the ecu to the distributor, if this was a ford i could simply remove that plug and set base timing at 20 degrees and it would be over with, however im not sure if the nissans have anything to that extent or similar that i can manipulate??? any help

if it doesnt rev past 3k than it could possibly be a maf problem.

and you can adjust timing through the distrubiter as well.

240s use a MAF system. To set the spark timing follow this procedure:

It's also a good idea to download the Factory Service Manual; here you go:
