boost prob

well i was backing up and i hit a curb with my muffler and ever since i havent been able to boost right. ever since then when i would spool up there was a sound like paper flapping around infront of the turbine or something. i dont know what i did but so far i havent boosted and i only drive when i have to. any help would be very helpful. ask anything else you need to know. thanx

You must have caused a severe shock to your exhaust system pushing it foward causing (A. a gasket to blow (B. exhaust piece crack or (C. none of the above, and could be something different.

If it sounds what I think it sounds like I would go with A) exhaust gasket busted(which is what Im experiencing now:rolleyes )

It sounds like it would be the exhaust manni to turbo gasket. But is your exhaust real loud? Have you checked your wastegate linkage and vacuum? need more info.

one thing i forgot to say is my muffler shifted places and is no longer centered. but the vac pressure is fine. im going to take the whole turbo and everything off this weekend and get it checked out. ill check that gasket tho hopefully its just that. and ill check the entire exhust for and leaks or cracks.

I have the same problem. started quiet now its really loud right at hte turbo. sounds like flapping. but more like a loud motorcycle.

I'm pretty sure its a exhaust leak its very common for the turbo -> manifold gasket to blow. the nuts vibrate loose the gasket blows out.

I ordered a new turbo -> ex mani and exhaust manfold gasket from courtesynissan they should be here soon.its driving me crazy.

btw symptons are that I can still make full boost but it takes longer with the leak. (t25 red top)

well for me i can boost just fine im just scared to cuz of the sound. im takeing the turbo off my car when i get home tonight and check and see if the gasket is blown or not. hopefully ill get the prob fixed soon. if its not the gasket im just going to have someone check out the turbo for me, well after i check it out for anything i can see myself. hopefully i can fix it without all the trouble and expense. if anyone has any other suggestions let me know. thanx.

good luck let me know how it goes.apparently its a real ***** getting it out of the car you might need a friend to push the assembly from underneath. spraying liquid wrench on all the bolts/nuts the night before will make things easier too.

gaskets still haven't arrived yet here so I won't drive it much either. good luck

how much did you pay for the gaskets? good luck with yours too. ill try to do mine alone but if i have to ill have someone come over to help. thanx for the warning tho. i know when i put on my downpipe it was a big pain and i couldnt have done that one alone.

I think it was 35 US plus shipping. so about 50-55 US with shipping for me. from courtestynissan.com(300zx TT gasket and SER ex mani gasket)

not cheap. but I figure if my gaskets are ok I will need them when I upgrade the turbo to s15 or fp28 down the road hehehave fun man very little working space in there I'm not looking fwd to it haha
