Hello all,
So I've been lurking on these boards for quite a while just reading the articles and posts which are extremely helpful but now I'm completely stumped.
I fairly recently purchased a 93 Twin Turbo, things were alright at first and I fixed most of the problems that came with it.
However, relatively recently (as I've learned a bit more about the vehicle) I've noticed some problems.

The problems I am having are:
-Low Boost
-Erratic Idle (complete with engine shaking)

Obviously all signs point to a boost leak. So I purchased a boost leak tester with a gauge and have been trying to test for the leaks.
The thing is, the gauge on the tester doesn't even move when I pump air into the system.
When the air goes in it feels like it's venting immediately somewhere around the passenger side headlight area but I could just be hearing air going into the system.
Odd thing is some air is for sure being held in the system because if I manually open my BOVs, air vents out.
Furthermore, I was still able to hear a small leak in my PCV hose which I fixed so I guess air has to be held in the system.

I know for sure that the gauge on the tester works, I'm just wondering why it doesn't move when I pump air into it.

Thanks for any help.

You might not be pumping enough to build a lot of pressure inside the pipes.
Also, it helps to spray some soapy water on possible leaking points, it'll bubble up and help you find leaks that you might not be hearing.

What kind of pump are you using? Im also with Razi, it does take a little bit to build pressure into the pipes.

It's a little 100 psi compressor.

By the headlight you say? that it most likely the Recirc outlet where it meets the curved pipe which runs below the headlight. use a smoke machine, easy as pie to find leaks.

So I'm not sure what I did but I got it to hold pressure. Guess I was just being impatient.
Fixed a couple leaks but there's one I still can't find somewhere along the passenger side of the engine above the turbo. Not by the headlight as I thought before. I'll have to track down a smoke machine. Thanks for the help.
