Ever since I got my car with a mild modded sr20det, it would send off these really loud high pitched noises after I let go of the gas on the freeway. The high pitched noises also come out when I rev it in neutral. Ohh, and on the freeway, I can stop the noises by putting the car in neutral. Some friends of mine said it is a leak somewhere, so I wanted to see if I can either confirm that, or get some other ideas. I'm a complete noob in the turbo scene, so any imput would be appreciated. Thank you.

Are you sure it's not just the sound of your BOV?

Yeah, my Blitz BOV has this fluttering sound that isn't too loud. The sound that I'm talking about is very very loud and high pitched. It sounds like it may be pressure comming out of a small opening, or metal rubbing against each other. I can equate the sound to loud brake squeaking. When I let go of the gas on the freeway, it comes out numerous times. When I rev it in neutral, it comes out once or twice. Again, thanks for any help.

Make a boost leak tester to rule out that possibility. There are DIY guides all over the place for these.

It's a boost leak. Had the same problem when I supercharged my civic back in the day. I had a nasty leak in the throttle body gasket and when I'd rev it or give it gas it'd make this really high pitch whistle/screaming noise.

He said it only made the sound when letting off the throttle not getting on it. I think your hearing the BOV if its only when you let off the gas. Boost leak would be auidable at all times under boost.

I listened more closely the last few times I was on the freeway and I think I would have to describe it more as a metal rubbing against metal sound. It still only comes out after I let go of the throttle though, and when I rev it in neutral at about 4 or more rpms. Any thoughts?

Check your belts. Maybe they're squealing.
