I started boost leak testing to diagnois a rich condition i am having. The usual suspects (intercooler pipes, couplers etc) seem to be ok. The preoblem area is the air idle control valves. When i pressurize the system i can hear air moving through the idle stuff on the side of the intake manifold.

To further diagnois them i removed them completely, made a block off plate, retested the system and i did not hear any air movment. Would these vavles leaking cause my rich condition? Just to confirm the gaskets sealing the peices to each other and intake manifold are not leaking. I have only heard the air moving inside.

Does this make sense to cause my rich condition or is this normal operation for these valves?

If the piston is stuck in the open position, it will leak thus causing your car to run a bit rich.

Unplug the solenoid and see if the air escaping noise stops. If it continues you probably have a stuck valve. It can be disassembled and cleaned, though.
