Havin a problem with my z going into safety boost and only boosting 7 when it should be around 14 cause of the jim wolf chip and boost jets i put inBut when i disconnect the vacuum lines for the boost jets it boosts 14-15 and is noticably faster. Can someone tell me if 1... if this is bad for the car? and 2... Why it would do this and what i can do to correct the problem without just dissconnecting these lines that are right under the main lines running into the throttle boddies.

Thanks...

The car is defaulting to 7 psi as safety boost, there is something throwing a fault code to the ecu resulting in the safety boost. The most common problem is code 34 which is the detonation sensor. This can be caused by a bad sensor or corroded harness, improper plugs/gapping or incorrect base timing.

To narrow your problem down you need to run your ecu codes to determine the cause of the safety boost. Here's a good 'how to' for obtaining the ecu fault codes:

Pulling the vaccuum hoses will result in a boost/vaccuum leak and inconsistant boost levels. Overboosting will result in a toasted motor. Find the cause of the safety boost and correct it.
